The City of Hamburg is making its on-demand MOIA and IOKI car-pooling services available south of the Elbe River from early  2023. The white IOKI shuttles will hit roads in Harburg while MOIA, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, will be available In Osdorf and Lurup.

Pushing ahead with "Hamburg-Takt"

The on-demand services are a key part of the "Hamburg-Takt" to give everyone in Hamburg five-minute access to public transport by 2030. The German Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) is funding the expansion of MOIA's services. Anjes Tjarks, Senator for Transport, noted: "We want to expand on-demand services, for instance, as a feeder and sensible supplement to the rapid transit system. Such services should become a convenient, long-term alternative to cars and be embedded in the local transport service to make the 'Hamburg-Takt' work." That would improve transport between outlying suburbs and the city centre.
