Turkish Airlines offering new routes from Hamburg

18 November 2021
22 weekly flights by late 2021 - six more connections in summer 2022

Turkish Airlines is offering up to three daily flights from Hamburg Airport to Istanbul and will gradually expand its capacity by late 2021. From November 26, 2021, the airline will double the frequency to Istanbul’s second-largest airport, Sabiha-Gökçen (SAW). Istanbul Airport (IST) will be served three times a day on weekends. Passengers can also fly to Ordu, a new destination on the Black Sea coast next summer, Hamburg Airport said.

Largest offer

"Istanbul is one of the most popular destinations from Hamburg Airport and not for nothing. Opened in 2018, it is major airport and acts as a hub that offers our passengers a wide range of connecting flights, for instance, to Asia, Africa and other destinations in Turkey. But the city and its historic buildings is also very popular among city travellers," said Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. Turkish Airlines will offer the most flights to Istanbul from Hamburg Airport with a total of 22 weekly flights.

Increasing demand

Turkish Airlines is offering additional connections to  Sabiha-Gökçen (SAW) from November 26, 2021 and will increase the connections to Istanbul by over 30 per cent from December 18, 2021. The Hamburg (HAM) - Istanbul (IST) route will be served three times daily from Friday to Sunday. Two daily flights will be offered during the week. The airport on the Asian side of Istanbul will then be served five times a week to meet rising demand.

More destinations from summer

Turkish Airlines is expanding its services for home and family travellers from Hamburg and will offer direct flights to six other airports in Turkey from June 26, 2022 to August 2022.  Turkish Airlines had ramped up its operations early in 2020 and is now one of the largest airlines at Hamburg Airport in terms of passenger volume.
