The Hamburg Airport-based Tel Aviv Air has announced plans for direct flights twice a week to Israel from September 19, 2021. The carrier can transport up to 189 passengers on the Hamburg- Tel Aviv route, which is likely to attract mainly business travellers, tourists, tour groups and domestic travellers.

Direct flight to ease travel to Israel

"The new direct connection lets travellers discover the diversity of Israel, which is a highly sought-after holiday destination and is now also directly accessible from north Germany," said Ella Zack-Solomon, Director Germany, Austria, Switzerland IGTO at the Israel Ministry of Tourism in Berlin. Apart from tourists and business travellers, Tel Aviv Air's main target groups include the approximately 6,000 people of Jewish faith in northern Germany.

Airlines's annual turnover

Founded last year in Hamburg by Shlomo Almagor and Paul Scodellaro, Tel Aviv Air follows after the launch of a travel company specialising in Israel 30 years ago. "We know the country, the route and our potential customers very well," says Scodellaro, who was previously a sales manager with the Germania airline. Tel Aviv Air expects annual turnover of EUR 9 million during its first full fiscal year. The Beteiligungsgesellschaft Hamburg mbH (BTG) is involved as a silent partner, and the entire financing model has been secured by Bürgschaftsgemeinschaft Hamburg GmbH (BG).
