Hamburg top city for skilled workers and quality of life

European Cities & Regions of Future Award presented - city scores in ranking of major European cities

Hamburg has scooped several awards at the "European Cities & Regions of the Future Award 22/23" presented during the international MIPIM Tuesday (March 15, 2022) in Cannes. Hamburg came first in the skilled workers and quality of life category and third in the digital networking and economic potential categories). Hamburg came second overall after Frankfurt and ahead of Düsseldorf.

Hamburg praised as "Future City"

Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, accepted the accolade on behalf of Hamburg, and remarked: "The award as 'Future City' is an important signal here at MIPIM to draw international investors' attention to our city. All the moreso as we were able to uphold our great ranking from 2020." A total of 22 companies are taking part in Hamburg's joint stand at MIPIM where the city is showcasing itself until March 18, 2022.

The ranking is drawn up every two years by fDi Magazine, a Financial Times publication, based on the business potential, financial and economic clout of European cities and regions in the categories: Economic Potential, Human Capital and Lifestyle, Business Friendliness, Connectivity, Cost-Effectiveness and FDI Strategy.
