Apply now for Hamburg Label Funding - boost for diversity and quality of music

Music companies can apply now for grants from the Ministry of Culture’s Hamburg Label Funding scheme. The grants should give the music industry more planning security and leeway and boost the diversity and quality of music in Hamburg, the ministry said. All applications must be submitted before the deadline of August 17, 2021. Launched in 2010, around 330 releases from various genres have received funds so far.

Funding to boost diversity in city of music

"The music industry has faced special challenges since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Although streaming is booming, the many smaller music labels in Hamburg have been severely affected by the restrictions on cultural life," said Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media. The funding for such companies will strengthen existing structures in Hamburg and post-pandemic, he added. Music labels can obtain between EUR 3,000 and EUR 10,000 in grants. A committee of experts including industry representatives will decide on the recipients.
