Hamburg to provide prototype funding for computer games

Calling all games start-ups and SMEs: Apply now to Gamecity Hamburg - deadline on October 18

Founders, startups, and SMEs in the games industry now have until the deadline of October 18, 2021 to submit their applications for prototype funding to Gamecity Hamburg. The funds will be divided into two rounds this year and come to EUR 400,000 per annum.

Funds to ease market launch

The non-repayable funds will be granted with a maximum of EUR 80,000 and a maximum of 80 per cent of the eligible costs, according to Gamecity. The funds should help fledgling companies launch on the market and boost the diversity of computer games developed in Hamburg. The location initiative funded 13 promising projects with over EUR 682,000 in previous funding rounds in 2020 and spring 2021.

Application procedure

Interested developers can apply after a consultation with Gamecity Hamburg. A committee consisting of representatives of the games industry, Gamecity Hamburg, and the City of Hamburg will decide on the recipients based on the applications and subsequent pitches.
