North German Conference of Science Ministers honors co-operation in natural sciences

Applications are now being accepted for the North German Science Prize (Norddeutschen Wissenschaftspreis) endowed with EUR 250,000. The North German Conference of Science Ministers (NWK) honours "outstanding scientific projects" involving scientists from at least two northern German states and is targeting the natural sciences this year. Three entries stand to win prizes.The deadline for applications is July 31, 2020. The winning entries will be honoured during a ceremony on November 25, 2020 in Kiel. 

Demand for innovative ideas in north Germany

New research ideas that potentially make an innovative contribution to strengthening north German research and its competitiveness stand to win prizes as well as existing and established collaborations across those states. The partners in charge of the research projects must be based in north Germany. Participants from at least two northern German states must be presented, including at least one state university. 

Boosting scientific networks across north Germany

Since 2012, the prize has been awarded to outstanding collaborations that show scientific excellence and whose success help strengthen the competitiveness of scientific networks. The ministries of science in the states of Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony sponsor the award. The state of Schleswig-Holstein is organizing this year's North German Science Prize. The Scientific Commission of Lower Saxony is managing the selection procedure on behalf of the north German states.
