Weinmann Emergency expanding

22 June 2020
New headquarters planned in Hamburg-Altona

COVID-19 has driven demand for Weinmann Emergency's products including ventilators and defibrillators to such an extent that plans are now being laid for new headquarters in the Gasstraße in Hamburg-Altona. The company works closely with rescue services, hospitals and medical services and has developed mobile system solutions for emergency, transport and disaster medicine for over 100 years. "Hamburg is an important location for medical technology and life sciences in Europe. This know-how is in demand worldwide especially during the pandemic. Weinmann makes a major contribution to saving human lives through its exemplary commitment," said Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics on Monday (June 22, 2020).

Pooling departments

Administration, research and development, test stations and the production of small series are to be concentrated in one location. Weinmann Emergency's headquarters are currently in Frohbösestraße in Eimsbüttel. However, a lack of space has forced the company to rent new headquarters, which will be about 10,000 m² in size and more employees will be hired. The centre for production, service and logistics in Henstedt-Ulzburg, which was commissioned in 2004, will remain in place. Building the new headquarters in Altona sends a positive signal to industry, Westhagemann added.

Expertise on site

"As a cosmopolitan city, Hamburg is the ideal place for us to continue our growth in a modern and well-equipped headquarters. For the expansion of our core skills, Hamburg and its universities offer highly qualified specialists to expand our innovative strength in medical and digital topics," said Andre Schulte, CEO of Weinmann Emergency.

Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, noted: "The property on Gasstraße is one of the most attractive urban commercial sites marketed by Hamburg Invest. Weinmann Emergency's use of the site sends an important signal to our business centre. Another well-known company is also planning to bundle several of its branches there. Areas for local businesses are also available. Commercial space is still very much in demand in Hamburg despite coronavirus."
