Kramp-Karrenbauer commented: "Compared to older, comparable types, the ultra-modern A350 is future-orientated and consumes 25 per cent less fuel. We are securing global mobility with the new fleet which is crucial to the German government's ability to work. The addition of two more brand-new A350s, adequately ensures the mobility expected of an industrial nation like Germany." Dr. Johannes Bussmann, Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik AG, said: "The 10+03 and its two subsequent sister aircraft are a continuation of the successful tradition of supplying the German Armed Forces and having them as one of our best and most important customers."
Handover of Airbus during ceremony in Hamburg
Lufthansa Technik AG handed over Thursday (August 20, 2020) the first of three new Airbus A350-900s to the German Armed Forces during a ceremony in Hamburg. Germany's Minister of Defence Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer accepted the flagship of the Ministry of Defence's Special Air Mission Wing. The aircraft is the world's first government A350 and will not be operated in commercial airline services.

Office and conference area in cabin
The aircraft, which was still on the civil register as D-AGAF, arrived at Lufthansa Technik arrived straight from the factory in early May. It is equipped with a special transitional cabin for political-parliamentary flight operations. The cabin has an office and conference areas and an adjoining multifunctional lounge. The remaining space is available to delegations aboard the aircraft. The sister aircraft 10+01 and 10+02, which are currently under construction, will include a fully-fledged government cabin by Lufthansa Technik next year, the transitional cabin in the 10+03 will also be exchanged.
