Chamber of Commerce to host online speed dating for apprenticeships

5 August 2021
Click & Match session schedule for August 31

The Chamber of Commerce Hamburg is hosting its annual trainee speed dating event for would-be apprentices online on August 31, 2021. Companies will have an opportunity to contact applicants for 2021 and 2022 per Click & Match. The placement of apprentices has been exacerbated by the reduced number of on-site career guidance services and the uncertain economic situation at present, the chamber said.

Digital speed dating with 55 firms

"We are offering digital speed dating to reach young people during the pandemic," said Dr. Malte Heyne, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Commerce. The coronavirus-induced crisis has exacerbated the skilled labor situation. "Vocationally trained specialists will be in short supply in the future. We must do everything possible now to make vocational training even more attractive." Around 55 firms offering 44 different occupations based on vocational training are expected to take part in the digital session.

Apprentices needed in commercial and technical professions

The search is underway for apprentices especially in commercial professions. Many apprenticeships in technical occupations, computer science, industry and as warehouse clerks are vacant. Applicants can register for the speed dating session online and upload a profile. Talks can begin when would-be apprentices and companies "like" each other. tn/sb/pb
